BSTFLEX aluminized heat protective sleeves are flexible radiant heat shields designed to protect automotive wire harnesses, electrical cables, hoses, fuel and fluid lines routed near exhaust systems, turbochargers, EGR components, engine blocks and other high-temperature areas.
These sleeves combine a heat-reflective aluminum outer surface with fiberglass or other high-temperature textile constructions. The reflective layer reduces radiant heat reaching the protected component, while the textile layer provides flexibility and helps maintain separation between the heat source and the hose, cable or wiring assembly.
Available designs include tubular slide-on sleeves, sewn aluminized sleeves, self-closing constructions, hook-and-loop wrap-around sleeves and snap-closure heat shields. Custom diameters, lengths, shapes, insulation layers and fastening systems can be developed for OEM and aftermarket thermal protection applications.

Modern engine compartments and exhaust-aftertreatment systems place wiring, hoses and fluid lines increasingly close to high-temperature components. Exhaust manifolds, catalytic converters, turbochargers, EGR systems and hot exhaust piping can expose nearby assemblies to significant radiant heat even when there is no direct contact with the hot surface.
An aluminized heat protective sleeve creates a reflective barrier around the sensitive component. This type of protection is particularly useful where the primary thermal load comes from nearby radiant heat rather than continuous direct contact with the heat source.
Typical protected components include:
One of the most common constructions in this product family uses fiberglass together with an aluminum foil, aluminized film or other reflective metallic surface.
The fiberglass structure provides a flexible high-temperature substrate, while the aluminum surface is positioned toward the external heat source to reflect radiant energy. Depending on the application, BSTFLEX can manufacture braided, sewn, laminated and multi-layer versions with different wall structures and closure systems.
Available constructions may include:

Automotive wiring can pass close to exhaust manifolds, turbocharger systems, catalytic converters, EGR hardware and other concentrated heat sources. Excessive thermal exposure can accelerate deterioration of cable insulation, protective conduit, connectors and surrounding polymer components.
An automotive wire harness heat protection sleeve provides a flexible thermal barrier around the harness while allowing the original routing to remain compact. Reflective constructions are especially useful where limited installation space makes a conventional rigid metal heat shield difficult to install.
For new harness assemblies, a tubular sleeve may be installed before connectors are fitted. For an existing harness that cannot be disconnected, a wrap-around, self-closing, hook-and-loop or snap-closure design can provide easier installation.
Aluminized sleeves are also used to protect hoses and fluid lines running through hot engine compartments and underbody areas. Applications include fuel lines, brake lines, hydraulic hoses, coolant hoses, oil lines, transmission lines and air-conditioning hoses.
The correct construction depends on the heat source, available clearance, hose outside diameter, required flexibility and whether the protective sleeve must be installed before or after the hose assembly is completed.

| Construction | Best Used For | Installation |
|---|---|---|
| Tubular Aluminized Sleeve | Wire harnesses, cables, hoses and fluid lines assembled before final connection | Slide over the component |
| Sewn Reflective Sleeve | Larger diameters and flexible thermal protection | Slide-on |
| Hook-and-Loop Heat Sleeve | Existing hoses, cable assemblies and wiring harnesses | Wrap around without disconnecting the component |
| Snap-Closure Heat Shield Sleeve | OEM assemblies requiring repeatable removable installation | Wrap around and secure with snaps |
| Self-Closing Sleeve | Wire harnesses and cable bundles requiring fast assembly | Open and wrap around the bundle |
| Multi-Layer Aluminized Sleeve | Applications requiring additional insulation between the reflective surface and protected component | Application dependent |
BSTFLEX aluminized heat sleeves are commonly developed for high-temperature zones throughout passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, construction machinery and other mobile equipment.

Not every thermal problem should be solved with the same product. BSTFLEX manufactures several different heat protection technologies, and separating these applications helps engineers select the correct construction.
For corrugated aluminum, paper-aluminum and flexible formed tubes used for air ducting, preheater systems or shaped tubular protection, see our Aluminized Heat Protection Tube range.
If the application requires silicone-coated fiberglass, basalt, silica, titanium-style fiber or another thermal sleeve technology instead of specifically aluminized reflective protection, see Thermal and Heat Shield Sleeves .
Complex automotive assemblies may require a shield cut and formed around branches, connectors, valves, sensors or irregular component geometry rather than a conventional cylindrical sleeve. For these applications, see our Custom-Shaped Aluminized Fiberglass Automotive Heat Shield .
BSTFLEX supports prototype, aftermarket and OEM thermal protection programs. Rather than limiting customers to standard sleeve dimensions, constructions can be developed around the actual component, installation process and heat exposure.
Custom manufacturing options can include:

For a new automotive wire harness or hose heat protection project, providing the following information helps BSTFLEX recommend an appropriate construction:
Photos, drawings and physical samples are useful when developing protection for complex routing or restricted installation spaces.
BSTFLEX manufactures heat protection products for automotive and industrial applications, including aluminized fiberglass sleeves, reflective heat shields, thermal sleeves, formed heat protection tubes and custom automotive thermal barriers.
Our manufacturing capabilities support both standard heat sleeve supply and application-specific development for wire harnesses, hoses, cables and fluid-line assemblies.
If you are selecting an aluminized heat sleeve for a new vehicle platform or need to replace an existing automotive thermal protection component, send us the component dimensions, heat-source information, installation photos or drawings. BSTFLEX can evaluate the application and recommend a suitable sleeve construction.

An aluminized heat protective sleeve is a flexible sleeve with a reflective metallic outer surface, commonly combined with fiberglass or another heat-resistant textile. It is installed around wiring, hoses, cables or fluid lines to reduce exposure to radiant heat.
Yes. Aluminized sleeves are commonly used where automotive wiring harnesses are routed close to exhaust components, turbochargers, EGR systems or other hot components. The construction should be selected according to temperature, clearance and installation method.
Yes. Wrap-around designs using hook-and-loop fasteners, snap closures or self-closing structures can be installed around many existing hose and wiring assemblies without removing end connectors.
An aluminized sleeve is generally a flexible textile-based protective covering used around hoses, wiring and cables. Corrugated heat protection tubes use a formed or corrugated tubular structure and are better suited to applications requiring controlled tube geometry, air transfer or specific formed routing.
Yes. Diameter, length, material structure, reflective layer, insulation layer, closure method and packaging can be customized. Component-specific heat shields can also be developed from drawings or samples.
